Summer Fun at the Pool
Water lovers, take note! During “Vacation at the Pool,” Munich’s three largest outdoor pools each offer a week of fun hands-on activities for children and teens ages 4 to 18. At Ungererbad (August 3–7), Westbad (August 17–21), and Michaelibad (August 31–September 4), you can look forward to slide competitions, shell diving, soccer, and much more. Don’t have your “Seepferdchen” swimming certificate yet? Then “Ferien im Bad” is the perfect opportunity to earn it.
The Summer Festival in the Olympic Park offers three weeks of carnival atmosphere with rides, a row of food stalls, and dining stands. As a family, you can take advantage of discounts on Tuesdays and a dedicated Kids’ Zone on the roof of the Small Olympic Hall—including face painting and games. During the themed weekends, there are many additional activities tailored to each week’s theme. Running concurrently is the Theatron Music Summer with free concerts by the lake.
Experience the most magical night of the summer when hundreds of lanterns light up the Olympiasee. A real vacation highlight is the Water Lantern Festival on the second themed weekend of the Summer Festival. During this event, the Olympiasee transforms into a glowing sea of lights. You can design your own lanterns, enjoy street food and live music, and set the lights afloat on the water together.
Summer Camp at Surftown
Did you think surfing was only possible at the beach? Think again— O2 Surftown is bringing the perfect wave to Bavaria. Just a stone’s throw from Munich Airport, you can learn to surf at Europe’s largest surf park. During summer vacation, Surftown offers three-day courses for kids, where you’ll experience your first moments on the board in a small group. On top of that, you’ll get a little goodie bag!
Mini-Munich
Now it’s your turn! At “Mini-Munich,” kids and teens ages 7 to 15 can experience firsthand what it means to run a city. Shape life in the play city and learn more about politics, economics, and culture along the way. The popular open-air movie theater at Hofstatt is back for the summer break and welcomes you with its free movie lineup. Four evenings a week, you can catch major blockbusters under the open sky. If you’re planning a relaxing day trip in Munich during summer vacation, the Poing Wildlife Park near Munich is a great idea.
