The old black and white movie “Dinner for One” is an integral part of the German New Year’s Eve tradition. Every year, the movie is shown several times a day on different TV channels. But if you want to experience the story in a different way, then visit the Amerikahaus on New Year’s Eve, where the American Drama Group will present you with a new interpretation of the comedy. Miss Sophie’s birthday dinner is followed by a hangover breakfast the next morning, which answers the question of who the guests Sir Toby, Admiral von Schneider, Mr. Pommeroy and Mr. Winterbottom actually were. The hilarious sketch will keep you laughing for 90 minutes and is performed in English.

The Munich Philharmonic Orchestra invites you to a New Year’s Eve concert in the Gasteig. Let yourself be carried away by Beethoven’s 9th, presented by a young quartet of soloists together with the Philharmonic Choir. The Finnish chief conductor of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra Eva Ollikainen makes her debut in Munich with this concert and leads the musicians through the symphony to the grand choral finale, when Schiller’s text “An die Freude” is heard. The New Year’s Eve concert lasts approximately one hour and 15 minutes without an interval and is particularly affordable for people under 30. If you can’t get enough of classical music, watch the broadcast of the famous Vienna New Year’s Concert on January 1 or attend a candlelight concert.

The Paulaner am Nockherberg delights year after year with its winter festival and, of course, there is also an event for New Year’s Eve. At the “Let’s Dance” gala, you can expect an exquisite 4-course menu with a choice of meat, fish or a vegetarian option. Beer, wine, soft drinks, water and coffee are included and are unlimited throughout the evening. The HÖGL FUN BAND ensures a good atmosphere and exciting show acts for surprises. There will be a midnight snack and sparkling wine to toast the new year.

It’s not just in summer that you can dance the night away at the Wannda Circus Open-Airs. On New Year’s Eve, the Märchenbazar is transformed into a dance floor where you can rave into the New Year to house music in the open air. If it’s too cold outside, retreat to one of the heated circus tents. The party starts at 10 pm and you can dance until 6 am in the fairytale world of the Wannda Circus. Due to its location in the Olympic Park, the Märchenbazar is the perfect after-party after you have marveled at the fireworks over the city from the Olympic Mountain . Please note, however, that there will be no re-entry to the party.

Maybe you’ve just moved to the city and are without a partner or your friends prefer to spend New Year’s Eve away from home. But that’s no reason to have to sit at home alone. Together with other singles and single people , you can go on an evening hike through the Olympic Park. On a hike of around 8 kilometers, you will walk across the Nadisee lake and through the Olympic village before stopping off at the Olympiaalm at 8:30 pm to enjoy a relaxed chat over food and drinks. From 11 p.m., you’ll head up the Olympiaberg to watch the fireworks together and welcome in the New Year.
