The Christmas holidays are over, the plans for New Year’s Eve are made and there is only one question left for the perfect end to the year: Where can you get the best view of the fireworks in Munich? Even though there are once again no-go zones this year where you are not allowed to set off fireworks or firecrackers, the sky will still be ablaze with color on December 31. To make sure you don’t miss out, you should visit one of the following places at the turn of the year.
The Olympic Hill

The hill in the Olympic Park is probably the first thing that comes to mind when most people are looking for a view for New Year’s Eve. From up here you have a wonderful panoramic view of the city, so you won’t know where to look first. There are bangs and lights everywhere and you can toast the New Year with your loved ones. It gets very crowded very quickly on the Olympiaberg, so you shouldn’t shy away from the crowds. But from here you can quickly reach the Märchenbazar open-air rave, where you can dance the night away.
Luitpold Hill

Another park with a hill from which you can watch the fireworks in Munich is Luitpoldpark. Here your view is not quite as unrestricted as on the Olympiaberg, as the Luitpold hill is surrounded by more trees, but you can watch the fireworks particularly well to the south. Luitpoldpark is also easy to reach by streetcar, bus and subway, making it a popular spot.
Hacker Bridge

The Hackerbrücke is a popular place to enjoy the sunset over the city in summer. But the view is also worthwhile on New Year’s Eve, when the fireworks light up Munich. Sit on the metal struts of the bridge, toast with a glass of sparkling wine and marvel at the celestial spectacle before your eyes. To secure a spot, you should arrive early, as the Hackerbrücke is an absolute hot spot at the turn of the year. Alternatively, you can also switch to the Donnersbergerbrücke .
Bavaria

The Theresienwiese stretches out in front of the Bavaria and offers plenty of open space and therefore an unobstructed view. You can sit down comfortably on the steps in front of the dam and watch the fireworks, while the Bavaria towers majestically above the action. Afterwards, you can head to the New Year’s Eve party at Tollwood and celebrate the first few hours of the new year in style.
Frötmanninger Hill

If the spots in the city center are too crowded for you to really enjoy the fireworks in Munich, you should consider Frötmanninger Berg. As it’s a little out of the way, it’s less crowded and might be a more pleasant experience for you. Here you don’t have to worry so much about a tall person blocking your view. And thanks to its location right next to the Allianz Arena , the hill is still easy to reach on the U6 and offers a great view of the city and the stadium.
Monopetros

Another hill in a park: the English Garden should of course not be missing from our list. The Monopetros offers you a dignified backdrop to watch the fireworks with your loved ones and celebrate the New Year. The round temple is a romantic place to raise a glass together and enjoy the view to the south as the clock strikes midnight and the old year comes to an end.
Angel of Peace

The viewing terrace in front of the Friedensengel in the middle of the Maximilian grounds is always worth a visit. From here you have a wonderful view of the Isar and the magnificent buildings on Prinzregentenstraße. On New Year’s Eve, this already great view is complemented by the spectacular fireworks and the atmosphere is cheerful. Start the new year cheerfully and enjoy the view!

If firecrackers and rockets are less to your taste, you can also take a detour to the Silvestermeile this year, where a light and laser show awaits you instead of fireworks.
