June has barely begun, and Munich’s festival summer is already in full swing: With the Wannda Circus and the Traumhänger, two open-air highlights await you on the first weekend of the month. But that’s not all—this week also sees the return of StuStaCulum, which will treat you not just for one, but for four whole days with an extensive festival program.
From a small birthday party to a major student festival

In 1989, the StuStaCulum took place for the first time to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the student town. The “Studentenstadt-Spectaculum” of that time was a modest anniversary celebration featuring twelve theater groups and two bands, organized by five students. However, the festival was very well received, which is why the decision was made to repeat it the following year. Over the years, the focus shifted more toward music, resulting in more and more bands joining the lineup.
Over time, the birthday party grew into one of Germany’s largest student-organized music and cultural festivals. This year, the StuSaCulum is already in its 36th edition and has long since ceased to be just a gathering place for students. Nevertheless, it has remained true to its roots and offers both admission and on-site purchases at fair, student-friendly prices. Furthermore, the festival is organized on a volunteer basis.
StuStaCulum 2026

This year, the festival runs from June 3 to 6 and offers over 100 concerts across five stages. The lineup features lesser-known artists who will deliver a wide mix of genres, from indie to hip-hop to techno. In addition, you can look forward to further performances as well as interactive activities and sports events. Whether it’s table tennis, soccer, or rugby, you can really burn off some energy or cheer from the sidelines.
There are also various workshops where you can try new things and learn skills like sewing, juggling, or meditation. Every day, spectacular fire shows and creative jam sessions await you. Watch the graffiti artists at work or pick up a spray can yourself, have a good laugh at the stand-up comedy, and meet new people while playing chess. There’s plenty of food and drink available on-site at affordable prices, and on the holiday there’s even a Weißwurst breakfast with vegan options. Payment is easy—just use the chip in your festival wristband.
