A new round of negotiations, a new public transit strike: While last week only transit services in cities like Augsburg, Landshut, and Nuremberg were affected, this week we in Munich are in for it again. One day before the Verdi union returns to the negotiating table , it is once again calling for a work stoppage in public transit.
Public transit strike: Who is walking off the job this time?

Last Tuesday, April 7, a strike broke out in Bavaria due to the upcoming collective bargaining negotiations. In Munich, however, only the maintenance depots went on strike, so public transit riders were largely unaffected. Anyone who thought we would get off lightly in the state capital this month was mistaken: The next round of negotiations regarding the wage dispute begins on Wednesday. In this context, the Verdi union is calling on municipal utilities and public transit employees to go on strike on Tuesday, April 14. All-day transportation disruptions are expected.
Which modes of transportation are affected?

As in previous instances, the public transit strike affects buses, subways, and trams. The MVG is implementing an emergency schedule that prioritizes the U6 and Tram 20 above all else. Depending on strike participation, additional lines may also be put into service. The S-Bahn, as well as regional trains and buses, are running as usual, although the S1 and S8 are currently not running to the airport. You can get the latest information directly on your smartphone via the MVG app or on the website.
If possible, work from home on Tuesday or switch to other modes of transportation like a car or bike. The public transit strike is scheduled to last until 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday and affects a total of ten cities across Bavaria, including Passau, Dachau, Fürth, Bayreuth, and Regensburg. The latest strike has met with incomprehension from employers, following recent efforts to bridge the gap between the two sides. It is to be hoped that the next round of talks will lead to an agreement and that this will be the last public transit strike for the time being.
