Once a niche, now mainstream: K-pop and its fan culture have long since arrived in the mainstream. What the Backstreet Boys and the Spice Girls once were, South Korean bands like Black Pink and BTS are today. The latter are even coming to Munich this year for two concerts at the Allianz Arena, bringing East Asian music culture directly to the city. If you want to stock up on fan merchandise or physical albums beforehand, you can now do so at the newly opened K-Pop store K-Idol in Haidhausen.
From pop-up to established destination

The story of K-Idol began quite modestly in Kiel in 2020. There, the shop started as a temporary pop-up store that made the hearts of local K-pop fans beat faster. Shortly thereafter, the online shop opened, and K-Idol established a permanent presence with its flagship store in Kiel. Over the years, additional store openings followed in Berlin, Cologne, Duisburg, and Essen. Now, in April, Munich has also received its own K-Idol branch, which joins other new openings this year such as the Sephora store and Bath & Body Works.
Fan paradise K-Idol
The new K-Idol is located on Weißenburger Straße in Haidhausen and offers a carefully curated selection of merchandise and music. Here you can buy your favorite albums on CD and stock up on matching fan merchandise. From decorative wall scrolls and posters to informative books and T-shirts, everything is available here. And if you ever can’t find something, the online shop is of course always at your disposal. The staff on site is also there to assist you with advice and support and will help answer your questions.
Once you’re done with your shopping trip and want to grab a bite to eat, the best place to do so is, fittingly, at Super K in Neuperlach, Munich’s only Korean convenience store. If Neuperlach is too far from Haidhausen or you’d rather cook at home, you can also stop by iSHOP on Prinzregentenstraße, Munich’s largest Asian market.
