With the return of spring, life in Munich is increasingly shifting back outdoors. Folk and street festivals are taking place again, concerts are being held under the open sky, and there are more and more open-air events and festivals. Now a classic in Munich, the Tollwood Summer Festival offers a month of live music, performances, art, and street food. Below, we’ll tell you which stars you can expect to see in the Music Arena this year and what else there is to discover.
A vibrant atmosphere in the Olympic Park

Unlike the winter edition, the Tollwood Summer Festival does not take place on the Theresienwiese, but in the southern part of the Olympic Park. From June 19 to July 19, you can stroll through the market here every day and be inspired by the artistic installations. This year’s theme is“With feeling instead of just being there—the reclamation of empathy,” which runs not only through the program but also through the design of the festival grounds. For example, you can look forward to an anatomical heart sculpture that you can even step inside.
As always, there’s food and drink from all over the world—sweet and savory, vegan or with meat. There’s also a diverse program of things to watch and join in on, like dance workshops, group sing-alongs, and a silent disco. Fascinating walking acts will amaze you, and there are free shows to see in the amphitheater. Kids will also have a blast and can craft, explore, and learn.
Musical highlights at the Tollwood Summer Festival
Almost all events at the Tollwood Summer Festival are free; you only have to pay for the concerts in the Music Arena. Every evening, a different act performs here and gets the tent rocking. This year’s highlights include Anastacia, Rick Astley, Bosse, Joss Stone, Deep Purple, Wincent Weiss, and the Sex Pistols. You can find an overview of all concerts here.
In addition, Querbeat has already been announced for 2027, and tickets are already on sale. In addition to the concerts in the Music Arena, there is also a free music program you can enjoy, for example in the Andechser Tent and theCraft Beer Garden.
