After the gray winter, spring brings color back to the city. The trees are glowing green again and flowers are blooming everywhere. But there’s also a place in Munich that shines in all the colors of the rainbow all year round: At Niu Asian Café, you don’t have to wait until April to chase away the gray of the cold season.

In 2019, Nici and Tu teamed up to open their first café together in Nuremberg. In doing so, the two fulfilled a long-held dream. Soon after, the second location opened in Munich, and the Niu Asian Café found its home on Sendlinger Straße at the corner of Oberanger. The name is simply a combination of the two owners’ first names: Nici and Tu.
Yet Nici initially had no experience in baking or creating latte art. She taught herself both, and the results are impressive. In the display case , numerous colorful cakes rival the vibrant interior. The walls are pink and decorated with flowers, the benches are purple, and the chairs are green. The tables have a marble finish, and on the counter, waving cats in every color of the rainbow welcome you.
A different café experience
But the Niu Asian Café isn’t just a chic photo spot for your Instagram feed. It offers you the opportunity to embark on a culinary journey into the coffee-and-cake culture of South and East Asia. The menu features crêpe cakes in a wide variety of flavors (from pistachio to matcha to black sesame), creamy Japanese cheesecake, and light and airy soufflés. The coffee beans come exclusively from Vietnam, which is the second-largest coffee producer in the world after Brazil.
Vegans don’t have to miss out on a visit to Niu Asian Café either, as there’s also a plant-based selection. At least 14 cakes are on offer every day; plus, there are numerous drinks served with colorful latte art. And everything is topped with a touch of glitter.
