Are you ready to dive into some open-air ice-skating fun? Munich has some great spots where you can skate under the open sky! Grab your skates and let’s take a look at the cool locations where you can go open-air ice skating in Munich.
Prinzregentenstadion
Starting in November, you can let loose on a 60-meter-long ice rink with music and floodlights at the Prinzregentenstadion. Ice dancing is a special tradition here. On Sundays, from 10 to 11 a.m., you can take part in free lessons on a separate ice rink led by experienced dancers. Here, you’ll learn to move elegantly across the ice to the waltz, tango, or the “Münchner Dipferl.” Skate rentals are also available.
Ice Skating Fun at Knödelplatz
At Knödelplatz in the Werksviertel, visitors can skate on a real 300-square-meter ice rink in a festive atmosphere with musical accompaniment through December 20. Skates can be rented on-site, and you can either book your preferred time slot online in advance or simply drop by. The Container Collective, located right nearby, also offers curling, and food and drinks are available.
Munich’s Ice Magic at Stachus
In winter, Stachus (Karlsplatz) transforms into a fairy-tale ice landscape with a large open-air ice rink. Surrounded by the illuminated facades of the surrounding buildings, you can skate your laps here and let yourself be enchanted by the festive atmosphere. Christmas music plays in the background, and there are cozy huts where you can warm up with mulled wine and treats. Plus, there’s a new theme every day to add variety to Munich’s “Eiszauber.” It’s the perfect place to experience Munich’s winter charm while having fun on the ice!
Ice & Fun Sports Center (East & West)
