The Munich club scene is currently facing tough times: At the beginning of the year, the Blitz Club announced its closure, and the DNA at Ostbahnhof will also be closing its doors in September. What still seemed surreal back in February will become a painful reality by the end of this week. The Blitz closing is just around the corner, and what happens next remains to be seen. But before the club on Museum Island closes its doors, it’s throwing one last wild party.
Four Days in Techno Heaven
The Blitz is known for its outstanding sound —reportedly the best in all of Germany. If you place a particularly high value on high-quality, clear sound when you’re out partying, this is the place for you. It’s not just the sound system itself that plays an important role, but also the architecture. The club operators spent a long time fine-tuning the setup to create the perfect sound experience in the former IMAX theater. However, the club won’t be at its current location for much longer, as the Blitz’s lease is expiring. The premises are set to be renovated; according to the Deutsches Museum, the club operators have no interest in moving back in.
But before it all comes to an end, you’ll be celebrating one last party this weekend at its current location. From Friday, July 31, through Monday, August 3, you can party non-stop for four consecutive days. During this time, around 80 artists will be spinning house and techno for you on four indoor and outdoor floors or performing concerts to ensure a fitting farewell for Blitz. It all kicks off Friday evening at 7:30 PM with the Family & Friends BBQ, to which you’re cordially invited and where there will be live music. There will be no advance tickets available; tickets will only be sold at the door.

Blitz Closing: What’s next?
Even though the Blitz Club’s time on Museum Island has come to an end, it’s far from over. Efforts are underway to find a new location where the club can start its second life. When and where that will be remains to be seen. The operators say they’re trying to keep the transition period as short as possible, but can’t promise too much.
