The New York Times has already said that Munich can keep up with Berlin. She was referring specifically to the Alte Utting, but we think so: In many other areas, too, the Bavarian metropolis is in no way inferior to the capital. Whether the notorious club culture of the capital is better or worse is perhaps a matter of taste. But one thing is clear: Munich is also a great place to party. If you like electronic music, the Blitz Club is the place to be. The club, which aims to be a concert hall for electronic music, opened in 2017. In fact, it is said to have the best sound system in Germany. Time to take a closer look.
The sound system: the star of the club
It is no coincidence that the Blitz is known so far beyond Munich. The main reason: the club’s sound system is the result of an extremely elaborate acoustic optimization process. The system in the main room is one of the most powerful in the world. They are strategically positioned in the corners of the dance floor. This “4-point system” is also known as “quadrophony” and ensures a more even sound distribution across the entire dance floor.
The entire room itself was optimized over a period of months. Acousticians, architects and carpenters provided their expertise. The result: the walls are fitted with special sound-absorbing surfaces to minimize any possible interference and create a powerful yet clear sound.
Good music and even more tolerance

The Blitz Club is located at a unique address: on Museum Island 1, in the north of the Deutsches Museum grounds. It couldn’t be more central Munich. The Blitz has a large main room where techno is usually played. The slightly smaller “Plus Room” often plays more diverse electronic music such as house. However, there are also rows that focus on other genres such as reggae.
The club attaches great importance to tolerance, acceptance and clear ethics. An awareness team ensures that you feel safe throughout the night. If you have any problems, you can ask the staff for “Claudia” and help is guaranteed. The anti-fur rule is also important before your visit : anyone wearing fur will definitely not be admitted at the door, regardless of any other factors.
To protect the atmosphere, photography and filming on the dancefloors is also not permitted. Visitors often have to reckon with stickers on their cell phone cameras. However, this does not get in the way of the music experience, quite the opposite: you can fully immerse yourself in this famous club.
