As soon as temperatures climb into double digits and the sun peeks out from behind the clouds, Munich is once again the most livable place in the world. Spring has arrived in the city, bringing with it a whole new range of activities to enjoy week after week. At the top of the list: a trip into nature. The most beautiful lakes and picturesque villages are located around Munich . Impressive waterfalls are also part of what Bavaria has to offer. The Scheidegger Waterfalls in Westallgäu are particularly spectacular. They are even among the “100 most beautiful geotopes in Bavaria”!
Two waterfalls in one

If you take a day trip to the Allgäu, be sure to hike past the Scheidegger Waterfalls. Here, the Rickenbach river plunges a total of 40 meters over two enormous steps and then disappears into the Rohrach Gorge. The area around this gorge is the largest nature reserve in the Lindau district and provides a habitat for a number of rare plants.
The complex actually consists of not one, but two large main falls. The upper waterfallplunges about 22 meters over a hard rock edge. The lower waterfallfalls about 18 meters into a rock basin.
However , there is also a third, smaller waterfall of about 5 meters, under which you can even walk when the water level is low – a magical photo opportunity!
Experience the waterfalls from all perspectives

You can marvel at the Scheidegger Waterfalls from a free-floating platform. It juts out about 20 meters over the abyss and offers you a direct view of the first waterfall. But if you want a more unusual view from below, you can descend over 200 steps into the gorge.
You can go hiking and experience various adventures on the various gravel (circular) trails on the grounds of the Scheidegger Waterfalls. The trip is especially worthwhile for families with children: there is a fairy tale forest and a water playground with all kinds of activities. And on the geo-adventure trail, you can use augmented reality to see what the landscape looked like 90 million years ago during the time of the dinosaurs. Whether young or old, unforgettable experiences await you at the Scheidegger Waterfalls.
