10th Anniversary of the Outdoor Sports Festival

The Olympic Park was built as a sports venue and has since been the site of numerous sporting events, such as the Munich MASH, and will even host the World Athletics Championships in 2031! But here, you can not only watch sports live—you can also get active yourself. If you’re not sure which sport is right for you, you should stop by the Outdoor Sports Festival. In October 2016, the city hosted it for the first time in the Olympic Park. This year marks the event’s 10th anniversary, and it’s celebrating with you on Sunday, September 27. There are over 60 sports to watch and try out—from A for Afrolethics to Z for Zumba.
The festival gives you a glimpse into various sports, ranging from well-known classics to trendy sports and even more unusual options. You can get information from the exhibitors, watch various demonstrations, and, of course, get active yourself. Whether it’s dancing, climbing, mountain biking, Frisbee, pickleball, or cricket, you’re guaranteed to find something here. Paddle a dragon boat across the Olympic Lake, put your skills to the test in the biathlon, or venture high up the Sayaq Adventure Tower.
Extensive stage and workshop program

The Outdoor Sports Festival stretches from Hans-Jochen-Vogel-Platz, past the Olympic Lake, the peninsula, the Theatron, the Olympic Hill, and the Luz-Long-Ufer, all the way to the roof of the Kleine Olympiahalle. The stage program takes place at Hans-Jochen-Vogel-Platz, where various sports will be showcased and several dance and cheerleading performances will get the crowd excited. Kids are especially looking forward to the mini-disco, where they can hit the dance floor themselves. At the Theatron and along the Luz-Long Embankment, several workshops await you— you can party at the Zumba party, unwind at the pop-up yoga session, and work up a sweat at the fitness class. The highlight is the dance battles from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., where Munich’s dancers will show off their skills.
If you want to join in on Sunday, it’s best to come to the Olympic Park already dressed in workout clothes and wearing sturdy shoes. Equipment will be provided by the exhibitors, though a deposit may be required in some cases. Food and drinks are available on-site for purchase; aside from that, the Outdoor Sports Festival is free. The event is open to all age groups and fitness levels. Children and seniors are welcome, and there are plenty of activities for people with disabilities as well. Experience the action and fun at the Outdoor Sports Festival in the Olympic Park and discover your new favorite sport!
