Normally, we only visit the airport in winter to escape the German cold and escape to warmer climes in Spain or Brazil. But even if you’ ve already used up your annual vacation this year, there’s good reason to head to the airport in the run-up to Christmas. A large winter and Christmas market is taking place here until November 28th, which you can visit whatever the weather thanks to the canopy.

The airport Christmas market is already a quarter of a century old and is celebrating its anniversary this year. The festively decorated stalls line the Forum of the Munich Airport Center and delight you with all kinds of delicacies and handicrafts. The largest covered outdoor area in Europe ensures that you can enjoy the contemplative atmosphere even on rainy days. The beautifully decorated pine forest and the decorated huts do the rest.
If you want to retreat from the hustle and bustle of the market, you can do so in the Airbräu-Tenne. Here, Frozen Wonders awaits you with atmospheric light installations as well as a festive feast or brunch for the early birds among you.
📍 Location: MAC Forum, airport
📅 Dates: November 14 to December 28
🕐 Opening hours: 11 am to 9 pm, on December 24 only until 4 pm
Live music and romantic light rides

A varied music program awaits you every day on the stage in the MAC Forum, taking you on a musical journey around the world. In addition to funk, soul, rock and EDM, you can also listen to Spanish and Italian songs as well as American coutry music. Almost every conceivable genre is represented, delighting live music lovers of every style.
If you are more interested in the background of the airport and would like to combine this with a sparkling bus tour, you should book one of the light tours. On your tour of the airport aprons, you can marvel at the glittering lights while listening to the guide’s presentation. This tour is as educational as it is romantic.
Program for creative minds and sports fans

At the heart of the market is the 625 square meter ice rink, where you can skate your laps all day long for just €5. Participants in the traditional Munich ice dance at Prinze can practise their skills here until they drop. Every Wednesday at the ice disco, you can show off what you’ve got. If you don’t like moving around on skates, you can score points at curling instead.
Those of you who prefer to be creative or want to make a homemade gift should not miss the ceramic painting. Both adults and children can let off steam creatively on the cups and plates and paint them in all colors. You can then either pick up the finished pieces or have them sent to you. If you are still missing the right Christmas tree decorations for your home, you can design your own baubles here. There are no limits to your creativity.
Offers for families with children
Every Tuesday is family day at the Christmas market at the airport – just like at the Oktoberfest. This means that every exhibitor has at least one discounted product on offer for you. Santa Claus also visits the Christmas market and hands out his gifts and you can meet your heroes from movies and TV, such as Woody and Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story or Lilo and Stitch. There will be face painting and craft sessions in Santa’s house and magician Alfredo will delight you with his magic tricks.
If you would like to give something back during the festive season, you will have the opportunity to do so on December 6 and 7. On these days, you can pick Christmas wishes from the wish tree for children in need and make them come true. Wrap the presents and bring them to the Elchstube at the airport Christmas market by December 18 so that they reach the children. This way you can bring them great joy.
