Oktoberfest is usually synonymous with Bavarian tradition and beer by the liter. But Munich’s Wiesn has long since become a meeting place for people from all over the world . This year, a true first awaits you: for the first time in Wiesn history, the Brazilian way of life is making its debut at the Theresienwiese with its own events. If you’re in the mood for a rousing samba band, cocktails instead of beer, and a completely new Wiesn experience, you definitely shouldn’t miss this new addition!
Brazilian Oktoberfest Party at the Munich Oktoberfest
A breath of fresh air is blowing through the completely redesigned wooden structure of Bodo’s Café Tent & Cocktail Bar this year. Here, the “Gostosinho” event series (which translates from Portuguese as something like “treat” or “super delicious”) creates a colorful spectacle. Instead of the classic beer mug, you’ll find caipirinhas made with sugarcane schnapps and genuine Brazilian joie de vivre. The event series was founded by German-Brazilian influencer Alexandro Schreiber, who, under the name“ ” (alemaozando) , has already garnered over 270,000 followers on Instagramalone .
The drummers from the Munich samba school “Praias do Isar” and the band “Vando e Banda”—who even flew in reinforcements from Copenhagen for the performance—will provide the perfect soundtrack. There’s plenty on offer in terms of cuisine, too: The team from the Munich restaurant “La Favela” is serving feijoada—Brazil’s national dish, consisting of a black bean stew with cassava flour, oranges, kale, and rice.

On September 20, the “Oktoberfest Opening – Samba & Feijoada” also marked the successful debut of the very first Oktoberfest event—and thus the Brazilian premiere —at the Munich Oktoberfest. But don’t worry: Two more events are still to come this Oktoberfest season.
