Now that the warmth and good weather have arrived, many of us can only think of finally escaping the city – getting out into the fresh air, swimming and relaxing at one of the many Bavarian lakes.
And if they are not overcrowded, all the better. Well, if you’re willing to go the extra mile – in this case driving – these 4 lakes offer a tranquil atmosphere that is definitely worth a day trip.
Lake Bibi
Lake Bibi in the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district is simply ideal for families. Surrounded by meadows and woods that make up its beautiful landscape, it has a water slide, a swimming pontoon, digging areas and even designated barbecue areas.
Fohnsee
Located in the middle of the Osterseen nature reserve and very close to Iffeldorf, the Fohnsee combines the beauty of wild nature – white sand, turquoise water, forests with unique plants and animals – with the comfort of a vacation resort, such as a charming restaurant.
Staffelsee
Suffice it to say that painters such as Gabriele Münter and Wassily Kandinsky often visited the Staffelsee in search of relaxation. And judging by the idyllic atmosphere, not much has changed since their time. Whether you swim in its crystal-clear waters, explore the surrounding nature, hire a boat or visit one of the charming neighboring villages: It’s really hard not to relax.
Kochelsee
Less frequented than its big brother, Lake Kochelsee is particularly popular with photographers. And also for hikers. Several paths and trails run around it, which climb up to the summit of the foothills of the Alps and offer wonderful views. However, if you don’t feel like hiking, you can try out the thermal baths and the bathing meadow in Kochel.
