Just in time for the official start of fall, temperatures in Munich have dropped below 20°C, and despite the sunshine, it’s become noticeably cooler even during the day. But before you bundle up and fully surrender to the coziness of fall, summer will make a comeback starting this weekend. The classic Indian summer is making its way to Munich, bringing what may be the last warm days of the year. So put that light jacket back in the closet, dig out the sunscreen one more time, and enjoy the pleasant temperatures outdoors.
Perfect weather for Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest-goers are especially lucky this year. So far, the weather has been almost entirely sunny, and aside from a few drops of rain, it has remained largely dry. According to current forecasts, this trend is expected to continue into the second week of Oktoberfest. Plus, you can look forward to rising temperatures just in time for Italian Weekend.
After Thursday’s clouds, the sun is returning to Bavaria today, Friday, warming Munich to a high of 18°C. Starting Saturday, the Indian summer will really kick into high gear and treat us to a warm 23°C. On Sunday, temperatures will rise another 1°C, making for T-shirt weather during the day. At night, however, temperatures will drop into the single digits, so you should definitely bring a jacket—especially if you’re heading out for an after-party.
Indian Summer During the Final Week of Oktoberfest

The weather gods are smiling on us this year, as the second week of Oktoberfest is also set to be nothing but sunshine—for now. Temperatures will peak on Monday, when we could see highs of up to 25°C—almost swimming weather! Unfortunately, Munich’s outdoor pools have already signaled the end of the season with “Dog Swimming Day,” but luckily there’s the Isar River and various swimming lakes for the hardy among you.
In other parts of Bavaria, temperatures will climb to a whopping 27°C, and along the Rhine, they’ll even reach up to 30°C. According to the latest forecast, you can expect temperatures above 20°C through and including next Thursday, so we’re starting October on a mild note. After that, temperatures are expected to drop again, and the effects of Indian summer will begin to fade. So make the most of these balmy days to soak up plenty of sun one last time before winter sets in.
