But especially during vacation, the outdoor pools quickly get packed, so you ’re better off heading to the lakes in the surrounding area. If you don’t want to miss out on the typical pool fun during your trip to the lake, you should put Grubsee at the top of your list. Here, picturesque mountain scenery meets outdoor pool fun!
A swimming paradise in the heart of nature
Grubsee is located in the Karwendel Mountains north of Mittenwald and belongs to the municipality of Krün. With an area of 3.7 hectares, it’s smaller than the nearby Barmsee and Geroldsee, but it has all the more to offer. At its northeastern tip lies the Grubsee Swimming Paradise, which combines natural swimming with water activities. You’ll zoom down the 40-meter-long slide straight into the water, which warms up to 26°C in the summer. There are also two separate children’s areas in the water, so even the littlest ones can splash around safely.
The more adventurous can venture further out into the lake to the swimming island, where you can sunbathe and relax. Or you can take a plunge into the water from the diving tower. If you’d like to explore Grubsee without getting wet, you can also rent a pedal boat at the swimming paradise. After you’ve worked up a sweat in and on the water, you can grab some food and refreshments at the kiosk.
Relaxation at Grubsee
If the beach area is too crowded for your taste, you can also enjoy nature at Grubsee away from the crowds. However, swimming isn’t possible anywhere else, as the shore is too marshy and overgrown with dense reeds. Instead , there’s a beautiful loop trail that takes you all the way around the lake and is sure to delight you with its picturesque mountain panorama. On a longer hike, you can explore Grubsee along with Barmsee and Geroldsee, immersing yourself in the world of the Karwendel’s mountain lakes.
