Summer in Munich is just around the corner, and you can look forward to sunny days and long nights once again. Dining and cultural life are shifting back outdoors, and there are plenty of cool events on the horizon. A popular destination is the M-net Kulturstrand, which not only brings beach vibes to the Isar but also offers a colorful program of events.
Summer, Sand & Culture
The M-net Culture Beach has become a true institution in Munich and is an integral part of the city’s summer. 26 tons of sand transform the area around the Vater-Rhein-Brunnen into a little beach paradise where you can make yourself comfortable on the lounge chairs and sip delicious drinks. Food and drinks are also available on-site, so you can spend relaxing days here with that vacation vibe.
During the week, there’s live music and DJ sets in the evenings, and a varied program on the weekends. From flea markets to yoga to cheer dance, there’s a colorful mix of activities. There will also be some great activities for kids and families this year. In addition, courtyard concerts will take place on eight days, where you can listen to music and capture the moment in the photo booth. You can find the full program overview here.
📍 Location: M-net Culture Beach at the Vater-Rhein-Brunnen

Meanwhile, the Kulturstrand on the Isar is no longer the only one of its kind in Munich. Since 2024, there has been another offshoot right in the city center at the Wittelsbacherbrunnen: the Maximiliansstrand. Here, too, you can relax with drinks and dance in the sand to electronic beats.
In addition, a third Kulturstrand has opened this year at LMU. At Professor-Huber-Platz, you’ll find refreshments and sand, as well as live music and a sports program. All events are free of charge, so everyone can enjoy the cultural offerings.
