In June, Munich celebrates Pride Month with a diverse range of cultural events and informational sessions centered around the LGBTQ+ community. Pride Weeks are still in full swing and will culminate in a grand finale with Christopher Street Day at the end of the month. This year, CSD Munich won’t just last one day—it will span an entire weekend. The new PrideMeile brings a festive atmosphere to the city center, where you can celebrate to your heart’s content.
The PrideMeile: A New Feature
The Munich queer community has been celebrating Christopher Street Day since 1980. The event in Munich is considered the largest of its kind in southern Germany. This year, the PrideMeile is an absolute first for CSD Munich, transforming Ludwigstraße into a colorful street festival for three days . From the Feldherrenhalle to the Siegestor, there will be several stages offering a varied program.
The main stage is located at Odeonsplatz and offers a colorful mix of music, speeches, and drag acts on all three days of the festival. Even more musical performances and acts await you along Ludwigstraße. In the party areas, you can hit the dance floor, and at karaoke, you’ll become a star yourself. Of course, there’s no shortage of food and drink options where you can refuel between activities.
Grand Parade for CSD Munich
As always, the absolute highlight of Pride Weeks is, of course, the big parade. On Saturday, June 27, starting at 12 p.m., a total of 214 groups and organizations will march from Fraunehoferstraße along Sonnenstraße to the PrideMeile. As they do every year, the Dykes on Bikes will lead the way on their motorcycles. Behind them will follow the banner bearing this year’s CSD official motto: “Our Diversity. Our Strength.” Through the parade, participants aim to send a message of diversity and equality.
You can then wrap up Christopher Street Day at the New City Hall with Rathaus-Clubbing. In the Prunkhof, you’ll dance under the open sky, while inside, three additional dance floors await you with a mix of genres including drag pop, classic ballroom, and house. Here, you can toast with Prosecco and celebrate the finale of Pride Munich together. Remaining tickets will be available at the box office on the day of the event.
