With June comes the return of summer to Munich, and the city’s cultural life is no longer limited to indoor venues. Numerous open-air events invite you to enjoy life outdoors. This includes the ever-popular Corso Leopold, which is back with two dates lined up for you.
Strolling down Leopoldstraße
The idea behind Corso Leopold actually stems from soccer. Leopoldstraße was (and still is) a popular hotspot for soccer fans after winning games. Especially during major tournaments like the European Championship or World Cup, the street is teeming with revelers, for whom the street is often spontaneously closed off. Strolling down Leopoldstraße, completely free of cars —that was the vision of the organizers.
In 2004, the time had come, and the first Corso Leopold was launched as part of the Streetlife Festival. Over time, it developed not only into an event in its own right but also into Munich’s largest street festival. Today, the Corso Leopold takes place twice a year, each time for a weekend. Running parallel to it is the Zamanand Festival, the successor to the Streetlife Festival, on Ludwigstraße.
The first Corso Leopold 2026
From June 20 to 21, you can stroll along Corso Leopold from the Siegestor to Münchner Freiheit for the first time this year. There, 90 exhibitors and over200 artistsawait youon 10 stages. Unlike Zamanand, where the focus is on sustainable and social issues, Corso Leopold focuses on art and culture.
In addition to numerous concerts, you can also look forward to cabaret and dance. Whether it’s swing, Latin American dances, or hip-hop, there’s plenty on offer here. Work up a sweat with Zumba, party to DJ sets, or dance rock ’n’ roll with a partner in front of the Siegestor. There’s also a special program for kids, so they’ll have a great time too. And of course, a wide variety of culinary delights awaits you, which you can sample to your heart’s content.
