With the arrival of September, late summer has reached Munich, and the days of the outdoor season are numbered. But before we all retreat indoors again, there are still a few cool outdoor events in store that invite us to enjoy life outside. Among them is the ever-popular Corso Leopold, which—following its June edition—will soon kick off its second round of the year.
Strolling down Leopoldstraße
The idea behind the Corso Leopold actually stems from soccer. Leopoldstraße was (and still is) a popular hotspot for soccer fans after their team wins a game. Especially during major tournaments like the European Championship or the World Cup, the street is teeming with revelers, and the street is often spontaneously closed off for them. Strolling down Leopoldstraße, completely free of cars —that was the vision of the organizers.
In 2004, the time had come, and the first Corso Leopold was launched as part of the Streetlife Festival. Over time, it evolved not only into an event in its own right but also into Munich’s largest street festival. The Corso Leopold now takes place twice a year, each time over a single weekend. Running parallel to it is the Zamanand Festival —the successor to the Streetlife Festival— on Ludwigstraße.
The Second Corso Leopold 2026
From September 12 to 13, you can stroll along the Corso Leopold one more time this year, from the Siegestor to Münchner Freiheit. You’ll find 90 exhibitors and over200 artistsperforming on 10 stages. Unlike Zamanand, which focuses on sustainability and social issues, the Corso Leopold centers on art and culture.
In addition to numerous concerts, you can also look forward to cabaret and dance. Whether it’s swing, Latin American dances, or hip-hop, there’s plenty on offer here. Take part in dance classes, party to DJ sets or at the silent disco, sing along with the choir, and work up a sweat with Zumba. There’s also a special program for kids, so they’ll have plenty to enjoy. And, of course, you can look forward to a wide variety of culinary delights to sample.
