In Munich, there are many ways to get from A to B, and besides cars and public transit, the bicycle is also a popular mode of transportation. If you’ve tended to avoid cycling in your daily life so far, there’s now a good reason to change that: City Cycling starts again in mid-June, and Munich is participating for the 19th time. For three weeks, the goal is to cover as many kilometers as possible by bike and compete with other cities. The most dedicated cyclists can win attractive prizes and rewards.
How City Cycling Works

City Cycling takes place nationwide from June 15 to July 5. The goal is to integrate the bicycle more into everyday life as a means of transportation, whether for commuting to work, going to the gym, getting to school, or running errands. The kilometers covered are tracked via GPS in the City Cycling app. In 2025, Munich covered a total of 4.12 million kilometers during these three weeks and took third place among cities with 500,000 or more residents.
If you want to participate in City Cycling this year, you can simply register here for Munich. You must live in Munich, work here, go to school here, or be a student here to participate. After you’ve registered, you can also join a group or start one yourself—the size doesn’t matter. This way , you can take part in the event together with family, colleagues, or friends and motivate each other. The cyclists among you who rack up the most kilometers by the end can look forward to great prizes.
Radl-Dult to kick things off

Before City Cycling officially kicks off on June 15, you can get in the mood on Sunday, June 14. That’s when the Radl-Dult will take place again at Mariahilfplatz. In addition to a bike flea market, there will also be plenty of accessories and tools for sale. You can have your bike checked to ensure it’s roadworthy, so you can ride safely. Highlights includethe BMX show and the bike loop. Kids can have fun throwing tires, and there will be various food trucks on site to keep you fueled.
If you don’t have your own bike, the Dult this weekend is the perfect opportunity to get one. And if you don’t want to buy one, you can always rent a bike through MyRadl. So do something for the environment and your own health—join City Cycling!
