From 1994 to 2019, the Christkindltram was in operation every year and delighted families with children, tourists and streetcar enthusiasts alike. It then had to take a break due to coronavirus and disappeared for the time being following the pandemic. However, fans of the Christkindltram campaigned for its return, so that it has been running again during Advent since 2024. However, unlike before, it is no longer in the historic museum train, but in a modern streetcar. The reason for this is that the old streetcar is more difficult to maintain and obtain spare parts for.
But the modern streetcar also knows how to impress with its Christmas decorations of fir greenery, bows and colorful baubles. It also has the advantage of being accessible to people with limited mobility. In addition to Christmas music, gingerbread, children’s punch and mulled wine await you on board the streetcar.
