Bouldering has experienced a boom in recent years and is now even an Olympic sport. It has therefore developed from a trend to an established sport in recent years. If you want to go climbing in Munich, you are spoiled for choice. A large number of bouldering halls attract visitors with their different courses and climbing routes. And there is a very special place where you can climb.
What is bouldering actually?

Bouldering is climbing, of course. But how does it differ from other climbing sports? In bouldering, you climb (rock) walls and ledges without a rope or other safety device. You can boulder both in bouldering halls and in the great outdoors. As there is no safety device, you climb to a maximum jump height. This means that you do not climb higher than you can jump from the wall into the depths without injury, usually a maximum of 4 meters. So-called crash pads are placed outdoors beforehand.
Bouldering is not only physically demanding, but also challenges you mentally. You need a good strategy to make progress and will be confronted with problems to solve while climbing. We give you a selection of bouldering halls in Munich that you should visit if the sport appeals to you.
Boulderwelt East, West & South

Boulderwelt is represented three times in Munich, with Boulderwelt Süd being located a little further out. However, you can also find them in other German cities such as Regensburg, Karlsruhe and Hamburg. The Boulderwelt in Dortmund is even the largest bouldering hall in Europe.
Boulderwelt Ost, on the other hand, is the largest of the Munich bouldering worlds. It extends over three floors, with the café, reception area and changing rooms located on the lower floor. Above this is the children’s and beginners’ area with a wall height of 3.60 meters. Advanced and professional skiers go one floor higher, where there is a competition wall and the training area
From here, you can go outside to the roof terrace, which is particularly popular in summer. In good weather, you can even see the Alps! Or in the evening, if you look to the west, the sunset. Boulderwelt Ost is celebrating its 15th birthday this year. During this time, the sport has moved out of the niche and into the mainstream. Under the motto “Bouldering for everyone”, the founders want to make bouldering accessible to everyone.
