You only turn 40 once—so you might as well party all night long. That’s exactly what Gasteig thought as it celebrates its big anniversary this year and looks back with pride on four decades of cultural offerings. To celebrate 40 years of Gasteig in style, there’s a free festival for you on the first weekend in June, where they’re pulling out all the stops. For 40 hours straight, you can enjoy the diverse program put together for the occasion.
A 40-year success story

The Gasteig has its origins in Haidhausen, where the name still adorns the red brick building on Rosenheimer Platz. The Gasteig itself is no longer based here; instead, the Fat Cat has moved in on a temporary basis, but will also leave the building at the end of the summer. Renovations are scheduled to begin then.
The Gasteig has long since left the building in need of renovation and is now located at Hans-Preysinger-Str. 8, which is where the new abbreviation HP8 after the name comes from . Here, Hall E forms the heart of the cultural center, which hosts over 1,500 events annually , many of them free of charge. You can also celebrate the Gasteig’s birthday with free admission and look forward to plenty of events and hands-on activities.
Party all night long for the birthday
