Physical music on vinyl and espresso from a portafilter machine—sounds like a hipster’s paradise, if hipsters still existed. But fans of good coffee and vinyl records still exist today, and it’s not uncommon to find both passions combined in a single person. If this sounds like you, then you’re in for a treat, because paradise really does exist—and it’s located on Herzogspitalstraße. Riviera Records is centrally located here, running parallel to Neuhauser Straße, yet it’s easy to overlook. So the next time you’re in the area, you should definitely pay a visit to this hidden gem.
From a pop-up to a permanent location

The idea for Riviera Records originated in Italy —hence the record store’s name. In 2020, David Hornung and Andi Müller turned this idea into reality, trading their agency for analog records. Riviera Records started as a pop-up in the Dreimühlenviertel neighborhood and moved from there to Rosental, where the store had its first permanent location. This was followed by another move to Herzogspitalstraße, which remains the home of Riviera Records to this day.
Fans of electronic music, in particular, will find plenty to love in this store. From minimal to acid to trance, a wide variety of subgenres and styles are represented. But fans of other musical genres will also find what they’re looking for and can listen to the records on-site before deciding what to buy. In addition, Riviera Records has an online store where you can purchase both new and used vinyl records or sell your old ones.
Stop by Riviera Records for a coffee
At Riviera Records, you’ll find a relaxed shopping experience away from the crowds—right in the heart of downtown. Here, you can browse the selection at your leisure, get advice, and sample different records. You’re also welcome to bring your own headphones if you’d like. But Riviera Records isn’t just a record store—it’s also a café. You can get an espresso for just €1.50, and there are plenty of other coffee creations and sweet cakes waiting for you.
Enjoy it in a relaxed atmosphere while you listen to the music. That’s how a coffee chat turns into a listening session. And “session” is the right keyword, because at Riviera, regular in-store sessions await you, where artists play and present their latest releases live for you. Furthermore, the shop serves as an exhibition space, so you can marvel at visual art as well as listen to music .
