It all started with cover songs and mashups on TikTok. But now Vilo produces his own music and performs it on stage. So far, he has released three songs, with which he is increasingly thrilling audiences at local events, such as the KJR Munich Pop-Up Stage. We had the chance to meet the young newcomer and spoke with him about his role models, among other things.
Honest lyrics against loneliness
Vilo has been writing his own music for two years, openly sharing his experiences and emotions in the process. In his lyrics, the young musician primarily explores personal thoughts and intimate feelings. However, showing vulnerability on stage doesn’t take any effort on his part. Rather, he sees sharing his experiences as an opportunity to connect with those of you who might be going through something similar right now. After all, Vilo’s music is meant to help his listeners feel like they’re not alone with their own worries and thoughts.
Musically, he draws inspiration from artists known for their melancholic, often piano-driven ballads.“I always wanted to be the German Tom Odell,” says Vilo, describing the origin of his musical ambitions. The British musician once gave him the final push to start making music himself. The successful German newcomer Berq has also had a significant influence on his style and his path in the music scene.
Songwriting Far from the City

Although Vilo often performs in Munich and greatly appreciates the city with its numerous venues, he seeks a stark contrast for his creative work. When he needs inspiration for new melodies and honest lyrics, he retreats from the hustle and bustle of the city. For songwriting, he prefers to head out into the surrounding nature and the mountains. There, amid the tranquility, he lays the foundation for the music that he later brings back to the city and onto the stage.
If you haven’t heard of Vilo yet and you’re into emotional German pop, then you should definitely check out his music. Maybe you’ll discover your new favorite artist, whose journey you can follow practically from the very beginning . And soon, you’ll surely be able to see him live again on one of Munich’s stages.
