He is considered one of the greatest British musicians of all time: Rod Stewart has sold over 250 million records in his career. At 81, he’s still performing on stage and most recently graced Munich with a concert in 2025. Now the singer has announced that he will go on tour one very last time before retiring. “The Final Encore” will bring him to Germany for four dates in 2027, including Munich. Here are the details so far.
Over 60 years on stage

Rod Stewart actually wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a professional soccer player. At age 16, he had even signed a preliminary contract, but in the end, it didn’t happen—fortunately for us. Instead, Rod attended the London School of Art and played in various bands starting in the 1960s. In 1964, he finally released his first solo single, and the rest is history.
The pop and rock singer reached No. 1 on the charts with several albums and became world-famous thanks to hits like “Maggie May” and “Sailing.” But he’s known not only for his music but also for his extravagant outfits. Colorful fabrics, eye-catching patterns, and a touch of glitter—that’s how Rod Stewart likes to present himself on stage. And he wants to take the stage one last time before hanging up his live career, at least. He announced his farewell tour, “The Final Encore,” on Instagram.
