The new Nightjet from Munich to Rome has only just been launched in July when another night train novelty awaits us, albeit only a temporary one. The Oktoberfest night train runs from Italy to Munich and back especially on the Wiesn weekends, including Wiesn fun on board. So if you want to travel directly from your vacation in Italy to Oktoberfest 2025, it’s best to take the “Espresso Monaco”!
What is the Okotberfest night train?

The “Espresso Monaco” is a night train service operated by the Italian company FS Treni Turistiche Italiani. The train operates on the second and third Wiesn weekends. It travels to the Oktoberfest on Friday evening and back again on Sunday afternoon. In addition to various seating and couchette options, there will also be a special program on board to get passengers in the Wiesn mood.
When does the train depart?

The Oktoberfest night train departs from Rome at Roma Termini station at 8 pm on both Fridays, September 26 and October 3. From there, it travels via Florence, Bologna and Verona to South Tyrol, where it stops in Trento and Bolzano. It then continues to Innsbruck and from there finally to Munich. The train returns at 14:30 on Sundays and arrives in Rome on Monday morning.
How much does the Oktoberfest night train cost?

A ticket in the 2nd class seating carriage from Rome costs €99. In the couchette car, tickets start at €178, with dinner and breakfast included. There are single and double cabins, as well as couchettes for 4 people. If you book a return ticket, prices for seats start at €89. If you want to save on hotel prices during the Wiesn, take the Oktoberfest night train and spend the night from Saturday to Sunday at an after-Wiesn party.
What program is there?

If you want to get in the mood for the Oktoberfest, you can celebrate in the train’s bar car with freshly tapped beer and German hits. The dining car is decorated to match the theme and there is a Bavarian menu to eat. If you prefer to take it easy, simply retire to the sleeping or seating car.
