The swimming facility in Oberhaching, located in the Furth district, has been around for 98 years now. Until the 1970s, it was open to all residents, but then it faced financial challenges. It was barely profitable to keep it open, so a drastic decision was made: the Further Bad became a private facility open only to members. This didn’t change until 2009, when it reopened its doors after years of renovation.
Since then, everyone has been able to visit the Furth Natural Swimming Pool again, though membership access remains in place. This is available to members of the association that currently manages the facility. Using a chip, they can go for a swim early in the morning before the pool opens and do their laps. In addition to members, up to 30,000 guests visit the Furth Natural Pool each year, making it once again a popular destination—unlike in the 1970s.
Swimming Fun at the Furth Natural Swimming Pool
The water in the outdoor pool is fed by a spring and treated naturally, so it requires no added chlorine. You can get some exercise in the 50-meter lap pool, while the non-swimmer area is perfect for cooling off. Kids will love their own area for splashing around, complete with a water trampoline and jumping rocks. You can zoom down the slide into the water and relax on the floating island. In addition to the swimming pools, there’s also a play stream with a sandbox where the little ones can splash around.
On land, you can relax in the sun with a good book—which you can pick up from the public bookshelf. For those looking to get active, there’s volleyball, table tennis, and foosball. The kiosk takes care of your hunger and thirst, offering ice cream as well as hearty snacks.
