Bavarian National Museum
The Bavarian National Museum, one of Germany’s largest museums, invites you every Sunday to admire historical works of art from late antiquity to the Baroque period. From November through January, the world-famous nativity scene collection is a seasonal highlight—and all for just €1. In addition, the museum offers constantly changing special exhibitions, which, however, are not included in the reduced admission price.
Egyptian Museum
Off to Ancient Egypt—and as affordably as possible! The Museum of Egyptian Art offers a fascinating glimpse into 5,000 years of history. Works of art, ritual artifacts, and other impressive objects from Ancient Egypt can be admired in this underground building. Embark on a fascinating journey to North Africa and learn more about this ancient civilization.
Alte Pinakothek
The Alte Pinakothek exhibits artworks from the Middle Ages to the mid-18th century. It also features major works from the Neue Pinakothek, which is currently closed for renovations. Both museums are among Germany’s most important art institutions and shape the city’s cultural scene. Like the Egyptian Museum, the Pinakothek is located in the Kunstareal, where you can discover 16 other museums.
Pinakothek der Moderne
From Classical Modernism to the present day: The Modern Pinakothek offers a fascinating glimpse into a total of four museums: the Collection of Modern Art, the Architecture Museum of the Technical University of Munich, the Neue Sammlung – The Design Museum, and the State Graphic Collection Munich. All four museums can be visited on Sundays for just €1.
Museum Brandhorst
We’re staying in the Kunstareal: At the Museum Brandhorst, you can discover contemporary art from the Udo and Annette Brandhorst Collection as well as rotating special exhibitions. Like the Pinakotheken, the Museum Brandhorst is part of the Bavarian State Painting Galleries and costs just €1 on Sundays.
Museum Fünf Kontinente
Discover the world’s cultural riches: From Africa to the Americas, Australia, and Asia, and back to Europe—at the Museum of the Five Continents, you’ll embark on a fascinating cultural journey around the world. Engaging exhibitions offer the chance to marvel at the world through art. On Sundays, admission to the permanent exhibition here is also just €1.
Schack Collection
Even though the Neue Pinakothek is currently still undergoing renovation, that doesn’t mean you have to do without it entirely. Like the Alte Pinakothek, the Schack Collection also exhibits some of the most famous works from the Neue Pinakothek . Furthermore, you can admire additional 19th-century paintings here, including works by Lenbach, among others. And all of this for just €1 on Sundays as well.
