Germans and their bread: We’re known around the world for our baking craftsmanship, and our wide variety of breads is both famous and notorious. In Munich, bread culture is even celebrated with its own market. For five days in June, the Bread Market takes place on Neuhauser Straße and invites you to discover the diversity of baked goods for yourself.
From whole-grain to white bread
The Bread Market is taking place in Munich for the eighth time this year, with a total of 15 bakeries participating. They’ll be showcasing a total of 120 varieties, so there really is something for everyone. Whether light or dark, with or without grains, a classic variety or an unusual ingredient—you’ll find it all here.
You can even sample and purchase matcha bread this year if you like the taste. As you can see, there are no limits to the bakers’ creativity. Because according to Georg Brücklmaier, the head of the Bakers’ Guild, only one thing matters when it comes to truly good bread: it has to taste good.
