After Uniqlo opened its first store in Munich last year, a restaurant is now following suit, which will also be located on Leopoldstraße. After shopping, you can refuel with a juicy Smash Burger and crispy fries just a 5-minute walk away. The popular Berlin burger chain Goldies has finally found its way to Munich and is opening its doors in Schwabing this weekend.

Goldies was founded in Berlin in 2017 and now has four branches in the German capital. Now the plan is to win over the rest of Germany with their smash burgers. The chain’s first Bavarian branch opened in Augsburg in November, and now it’s Munich’s turn. On February 14, starting at 2 p.m., you can stop by Leopoldstr. 42 and try your first Goldies smash burger.
A DJ will be on site for the opening, and drinks will be served by the High Bar. The first guests will also receive small gifts. So if you don’t have any plans for Valentine’s Day yet and find the rest of Munich’s restaurant scene too upscale, then stop by Goldies. Since the chain’s new openings have been very popular in the past, you may have to expect longer waiting times.

The two founders, Vladi and Kajo, both previously worked at the Michelin-starred restaurant “Aqua” in Wolfsburg. That’s why quality is so important to them. They focus on fresh ingredients and homemade sauces. As the name of the chain suggests, originally only fries were available here. The smash burgers were only added with the opening of the second branch in 2021.
These are available not only in meat versions, but also in vegetarian, vegan, and plant-based options. This means that no one has to miss out on these delicacies, which are considered the “best bad food in town. “ In addition, you have the option of ordering any of the burgers as a double, so you have two patties instead of just one between your buns.
