Winter in Munich isn’t just for skiing on Bavaria’s best slopes, it’s also for cozying up at home. When temperatures remain in the single digits and the sun hardly shows itself, we can at least use the gray season to try out new restaurants. A real experience awaits you at “Le Petit Chef. “ The world-renowned gastronomic concept combines high-tech entertainment with classic fine dining. In Munich, this spectacle is currently taking place at the Sheraton Munich Arabellapark Hotel.
The concept: a virtual look behind the scenes
It is a 3D mapping dinner. While you sit at your table at Le Petit Chef, a precise animation is projected from the ceiling directly onto your plate and tablecloth. A tiny, animated French chef (the “Petit Chef”) appears on your table and “prepares” the food virtually. He wrestles with lobsters, plants vegetables, and balances on cooking pots.
This allows you to be right there in the kitchen, so to speak—only without the stress that large kitchens usually entail, but rather from the comfort of your table. As soon as the animated character has finished cooking the dish, the real waiters serve the actual food, which visually corresponds exactly to the projection. The entire show, including dinner , lasts about 2 to 2.5 hours.
Menu and prices in Munich
As you can imagine, the atmosphere is extremely unusual. The room is usually darkened so that the projections can unfold their full effect. And the food is also worth a visit: the 5-course menu is high-quality and usually has a French-international touch. You can find an overview of all options on the website.
It goes without saying that this experience is not a particularly inexpensive dinner. At “Le Petit Chef,” the event is also reflected in the prices. Depending on the menu selection, prices are usually around €149 per person (excluding drinks). Children’s menus are slightly cheaper.
This restaurant is particularly suitable for special occasions such as Valentine’s Day, family birthdays, and as a gift. Or simply whenever you want to experience a meal that feels like being at the movies.
