The reason: Filming for the 22nd season of “Germany’s Next Top Model” has officially begun! As the network ProSieben announced, the 53-year-old “model mom” is once again searching for Germany’s next up-and-coming talents in the Bavarian capital. In the new season, anyone aged 18 and older could once again apply, meaning that for the fourth time, both female and male up-and-coming models are competing together for the coveted title.

It comes as no surprise that Heidi Klum is returning to Munich for the show, as the city has served as the backdrop for the model casting in previous seasons. Now that production has kicked off in Munich, the first details about the exact filming locations have been revealed. As on-site observations by the AZ show, filming has already taken place secretly at Munich’s Ostbahnhof. In the Werksviertel district, the contestants had to prove their skills right away at lofty heights. The imposing Umadum Ferris wheel served as the backdrop for an elaborate photo shoot. While the aspiring models gave it their all in front of the camera, Heidi Klum closely followed the action via walkie-talkie from a high director’s chair.

For all GNTM fans, the kickoff in Munich promises plenty of excitement.
