Pack your swim gear—an adventure for the whole family awaits at the Olympic Park! On Sunday, November 15, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Olympic Swimming Hall will be transformed into a massive sports paradise. Under the motto “Join in and discover your water sport!”, the Bavarian capital is celebrating its 8th Water Sports Festival. The best part for you is that both admission and all sports activities are completely free on this day. Numerous local clubs and sports organizations will showcase a total of more than twenty different disciplines, where you and your kids can get active yourselves or marvel at spectacular demonstrations. Just keep in mind that regular swimming hours are suspended during the event. They resume at 7:30 p.m.
From mermaid swimming to a breathtaking high-diving show

The program offers extraordinary experiences for all ages—the kind you rarely find at regular swimming pools. Balance artists venture out on taut ropes suspended directly above the pool during waterlining, while adrenaline junkies can experience spectacular jumps at Nico Mazrekaj’s X-Diving show and the workshops hosted by SG Stadtwerke München.
Those who prefer to really get into the water can try underwater hockey, test their team spirit in canoe polo, or take part in a wild air-mattress race. The program also includes introductory dragon boat rides and imaginative workshops from the Munich Mermaid Swimming School. The Munich Diving Community (Münchner Tauchergemeinschaft e. V.) offers a truly immersive experience with twenty-minute introductory courses for everyone ages ten and up.
Earning swimming badges and important tips for your visit

In addition to sports and shows, the focus is on staying safe in the water. The DLRG München-Mitte will be administering the Seepferdchen and Bronze swimming tests on-site throughout the day at no cost. However, you must register online in advance to participate. New for 2026 is the “Seesternchen” badge, for which you can simply register your kids on-site between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Meanwhile, new parents can work up a sweat during aqua fitness classes with their babies (ages six months and up).
To ensure your day goes smoothly, be sure to pack not only swimwear and water shoes but also a valid ID, which is required for diving sessions and tests. The easiest way to get there is to take the U3 subway line to the Olympiazentrum stop, from where you can easily reach the pool after a short walk.
