If you’re looking for fresh literary voices, mark your calendars for November 7–10, 2026. The Munich Queer Literature Festival (QLFM) transforms Saal X at Gasteig HP8 and partner venues into a vibrant gathering place for book lovers. Since 2023, the initiative has been celebrating literature as a communal experience. Supported by the Department of Culture of the City of Munich and the Munich Rainbow Foundation, and in cooperation with the Munich City Library and the queer-feminist Glitch Bookstore, an exciting program awaits you that goes beyond traditional readings.
The complete program for the Munich Queer Literature Festival
The festival kicks off on Saturday, November 7, at 8:00 p.m., with star author Tash Aw presenting his novel “The South” in English in Hall X. You’ll have a chance to get involved yourselves on Sunday, November 8, at the Glitch Bookstore. There, author Sophia Merwald will lead the “Rage Writing” workshop, where you’ll learn how to channel anger creatively into writing. Back at HP8, Muri Darida will present his acclaimed novel “King Cobra.” Afterward, renowned translators Sonja Finck and Frank Weigand will discuss the practice of translating queer texts. Anna Julian Mendlik (“Dante im Darkroom”) and Alexander Schnickmann (“Gestirne”) will round out Sunday evening with expressive queer poetry.
On Monday, November 9, at 5:00 p.m., Marlon Brand will take you on a free station-to-station reading of “Und jetzt queer!” right through the Munich City Library at HP8. Following that, I.V. Nuss will read from the work “R-O-N=O.” Kuku Schrapnell will open the final day on November 10 with “Gender Punks,” a talk about historical role models. To wrap up the festivities, Sophia Merwald will read from her debut novel “Sperrgut” at 7:30 p.m.
Whether it’s an interactive workshop or a reading: At the Munich Queer Literature Festival, you can discover and discuss contemporary literature together outside of bookstores.
