The people of Munich are an active bunch, and running is one of their favorite activities. Whether along the Isar, through the English Garden, or across the Theresienwiese, they’re out jogging as hard as they can. And when their gear wears out, it’s time for a new set. You’ll be able to get it soon at the new On store, which opens in mid-October in the city center.
On a Growth Trajectory
Running on clouds—that’s the promise made by the Swiss sports equipment manufacturer On, and it’s been a huge success. The company was founded in Zurich in 2010 and has been on a growth trajectory ever since. The special sole isn’t just visually striking; thanks to its patented cushioning system, it also absorbs impact while running. Athletes love it, which is why On has been expanding worldwide since 2013.
The Swiss brand is now represented in more than 50 countries and aims to expand further, particularly in the DACH region. This year, the first On store in Austria celebrated its grand opening in Vienna. The first German store opened in Berlin in 2024, and the second is set to follow this fall in Munich.
The new On store in Munich
On announced the opening of its flagship store in Munich last year, but the exact date had not been revealed until now. Originally, spring 2026 was mentioned, but there were delays. Now there’s finally a date: On Thursday, October 15, the On store in Munich will open its doors. It’s located at Theatinerstraße 38, where its large logo has been prominently displayed for quite some time. Across 420 m² spread over two floors, you’ll be able to shop for running shoes, clothing, and other sports gear.
Until now, you could only find the brand’s products in other sports stores . Now you can browse and discover them in a dedicated On store of your own. For its store concept, On is blending Swiss and Bavarian culture. We’ll see how that turns out when the new store opens.
