Among the ski resorts around Munich, there are several regions for absolute professionals. These include the steepest downhill run in Germany with a gradient of over 40 percent. But the alpine landscape also offers the best conditions for families and beginners in winter. If you can’t decide between different levels of difficulty, you can visit an all-rounder: the Spitzingsee-Tegernsee ski resort. The lake landscape is not only worth a visit in summer ; skiing is also possible at Lake Tegernsee in winter. It offers 20 kilometers of well-groomed slopes for skiers and snowboarders. And that’s for all levels!
Rottach-Egern: The sporting center

The most important starting point for “proper” skiing at Tegernsee is in the district of Enterrottach. Here you will find one of the longest and most beautiful runs in the region. At the top of the ridge, you also have the option of switching to the Schliersee side (Spitzingsee).
A highlight here is the Sutten descent: it leads over 2.5 kilometers down the north slope into the valley and is regularly used for official FIS races and regional championships. It is considered one of the best training slopes in Bavaria because it has a very even gradient.
Family-friendly in the municipality of Kreuth

In the municipality of Kreuth, at the southern end of the valley, there are traditional lifts that are particularly popular with locals. It is the ideal area for families. At the foot of the Leonhardstein (1,452 meters), there are flat practice slopes for children, but also two T-bar lifts that take you further up, where the slope becomes significantly steeper and more challenging.
Incidentally, the Hirschberg lifts in Kreuth are also the home slope of Viktoria Rebensburg. The fact that an Olympic giant slalom champion learned to ski on such a comparatively small slope is a source of local pride. The slope is more technically demanding than it looks from below.
And if you need a change of pace after so much skiing, Tegernsee also offers a very special way to relax. At the monte mare Seesauna, you can enjoy a sauna on a converted ship rocking in the lake. To cool off, you can jump directly into the (in winter, ice-cold) Tegernsee.
