Glockenbach is known as Munich’s queer nightlife district and, of course, a queer Christmas market is a must. The LGBTQIA community ‘s Christmas market is being held here for the 20th time and is not only a place for good cheer and a lively atmosphere, but also for awareness.
A pink Christmas market in the city

The baubles at most Christmas markets usually glow red and gold on the green fir trees and the lights shine in warm yellow. But not so at the market in the Glockenbachviertel: the trees here are white, not green, and the baubles and lights are pink. The queer Christmas market on Stepahnsplatz thus lives up to its name.
The program is just as unusual as the decorations. Every evening at 6 pm, DJ James Munich plays his Christmas mix, ensuring dancing and a great atmosphere. Every Sunday, the highlight is Gene Pascale’s travesty show. But other show acts also await you on the Pink Christmas stage. In addition to mulled wine, you can also look forward to the prosecco bar and, of course, there are plenty of delicacies to try, which you can buy from white pagoda tents instead of brown wooden stalls.
Pink Christmas as a safe space

Pink Christmas was organized for the first time in 2005 and is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Organizer Robert Maier-Kares is interested in creating a safe space for the queer community on the one hand, but also in making this very community and its social participation at events such as Christmas markets visible on the other. It is also about consciously breaking out of one’s own bubble, which is why Pink Christmas is accessible to everyone.
In recent years, Pink Christmas has always worked together with Münchner AIDS-Hilfe to use the market as a space to raise awareness. This year, the collaboration will not take place, but World AIDS Day on December 1 will still be celebrated at the Christmas market. Mayor Verena Dietl will be present and pop star Patrick Lindner will perform on stage.
If you want to experience a special Christmas market that isn’t actually that different, then visit Pink Christmas on Stephansplatz north of the old Südfriedhof cemetery from November 24. Lord Mayor Dieter Reiter will speak at the opening and Grand Prix star Johnny Logan will be waiting for you afterwards. Come along, enjoy a Prosecco or mulled wine and celebrate Pink Christmas!
