Munich has quite a few indoor swimming pools, but none are as beautiful to look at as the Müller’sche Volksbad. This Art Nouveau gem is now 125 years old, making it the oldest swimming pool in the city. This anniversary will now be celebrated in style with a special event day on June 26. Look forward to a wide variety of activities and historically low admission prices to celebrate the Volksbad’s birthday.
A historic swimming facility

A lot can happen in 125 years. Visually, however, little has changed at the Müller’s Volksbad, as—unlike other Munich swimming pools—it survived the war unscathed. Its operations, on the other hand, have changed fundamentally; in the past, the swimming pools served primarily for personal hygiene rather than physical fitness.
Today, most visitors likely come by for exercise and relaxation. The Müller’sche Volksbad has also served as a film set for the Italian horror film “Suspiria” and the drama “Deep End.” You can learn more exciting stories about the Volksbad and interesting facts about its architecture during the guided tours on the special event day. The tours take place hourly between 10:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
