We don’t have to worry about a gray January in Munich for the time being. Winter means well with us and brings us snow in masses. So it’s time to try out the best winter activities in and around the city! In Bavaria in particular, it’s all about skiing and snowboarding. After all, if we already have the Alps in our immediate vicinity, we should make the most of it. One of our favorite mountains is Munich’s local mountain: the Blomberg.
The Blomberg: the adventure playground above Bad Tölz

The Blomberg is something like the “Swiss army knife” of the Bavarian Alps. It can do almost anything and offers the right program for every age group. Located just outside Bad Tölz, it marks the transition from the flat foothills of the Alps to the first range of the Bavarian mountains.
Here you will find almost every possible leisure activity – not only in winter. The summer toboggan runs are known far beyond the region. And the “Blomberg-Blitz” is a modern alpine coaster on rails that can be ridden all year round (even in rain or snow). The excursion is also worthwhile for hiking enthusiasts. You can quickly reach the peaks via well-maintained forest paths and enjoy views as far as Munich from the mountain huts at the top.
Winter fun for young and old – day and night

Due to its relatively low altitude – the summit is at “only” 1,248 meters – the Blomberg has largely closed its regular lift and piste operations for skiers. However, winter tobogganing is currently possible on the routes set up for this purpose. You can hire a toboggan on site and even take part in tobogganing courses. Your next run is guaranteed to be a hit!
If you prefer something a little more sporty, you can try out night tobogganing every Saturday from 7 pm to 10 pm. That’s when you can experience the “Blitz” and the natural toboggan run under floodlights. The Blomberg is also perfect for winter hikes. Experience the clear air and snow flurries in the great outdoors before warming up again with drinks and snacks in the heated Blomberghaus.
