A walk through Earth’s history at the Altmühltal Dinosaur Museum
The approximately 1.5 km long, accessible forest trail takes you chronologically through various geological eras. You’ll walk past over 70 life-size dinosaur models, which stand impressively among the trees.
From gigantic long-necked dinosaurs to dangerous carnivores, prehistoric times come to life here. The natural forest setting makes the tour particularly authentic and gives the little ones plenty of room for their own discoveries.
Sensation-al original skeletons
In the exhibition halls, you’ll be in constant awe, as the museum houses some of the world’s most remarkable paleontological treasures. First and foremost is “Rocky,” the world’s only original skeleton of a juvenile Tyrannosaurus rex.
Equally spectacular are the giant pterosaur “Dracula” and the original fossil of the famous primeval bird Archaeopteryx. It’s an unforgettable experience to be able to view these genuine artifacts up close.
Get involved, dig, and run around
Plus , there are plenty of hands-on activities in the park. In the large interactive areas, young explorers can step into the role of paleontologists, search for real fossils, sift for shark teeth in the sand, or cast a dinosaur tooth as a souvenir.

How to get to the Altmühltal Dinosaur Museum
By car: Take the A9 (from Munich toward Nuremberg) to Exit 59 (Denkendorf). From there, the park is signposted and can be reached in just a few minutes by car. Free parking is available at the entrance.
By public transit: From Munich, take the Regional Express to Ingolstadt Central Station (or North Station). There, transfer to bus line 9226, which will take you to the stop at the museum.
