The RegensburgDachshund Museum is the world’s first cultural-historical dachshund museum. Created by founders Josef “Seppi” Küblbeck and Oliver Storz, the venue houses a breathtaking private collection of over 30,000 exhibits, assembled over the course of 25 years. Originally opened in 2018 in Passau, Lower Bavaria, the museum celebrated its relaunch in April 2023 right in the heart of Regensburg’s Old Town. As soon as you step inside the historic building, you’ll be immersed in a lovingly designed world offering a delightful mix of curiosities, humor, and nostalgia. From historic porcelain figurines, ornate paintings, and beer mugs to legendary bobblehead dachshunds and even Waldi, the famous 1972 Munich Olympics mascot. The Dachshund Museum isn’t just an exhibition—it’s a complete experience. In addition to browsing the display cases, you can pick up iconic souvenirs in the on-site shop. A special highlight is the “Auf den Hund gekommen” dog-themed city tour, where you’ll stroll through Regensburg’s Old Town with a guide. Incidentally, the world’s largest dachshund parade in 2024—in which 1,175 dachshunds marched through the city—proved that Regensburg’s dachshund fever is breaking real-world records.
