Even if you don’t consume animal products, you’ll hardly have to go without anything in Munich. The city has numerous vegan restaurants and cafés that will treat you to all kinds of delicacies. The Wirtshaus Bohdi on Schwanthaler Höhe proves that even Bavarian cuisine can be enjoyed without meat or dairy products. And this year, you won’t have to make any compromises during Advent either, thanks to the new vegan Christmas market on Prater Island.
No compromises at the vegan Christmas market

There are numerous Christmas markets in Munich, and at most of them, vegans among you will find something to their liking. Nevertheless, there are some festive classics for which there was no animal-free alternative—until now. Where Santa’s Isarzauber took place last year, there will be a Christmas paradise for animal lovers this year. The newly founded organization Anymal Empathy is bringing Munich’s first vegan Christmas market to Prater Island.
At the market stalls, you’ll find classic Christmas treats like baked cheese, roasted almonds, or tarte flambée—just in vegan versions. Warm drinks like punch and mulled wine are, of course, also available. In addition, you can browse and shop a bit, for example at the vegan fashion label Giulia & Romeo. Founder Sahar Azghand-Daoutis aims to show just how delicious plant-based dishes can be and to draw more attention to this lifestyle.
Feasting for a Good Cause
Proceeds from the vegan Christmas market go to various animal welfare projects supported by Anymal Empathy. So look forward to a cozy, festive atmosphere and delicious food—all while supporting animal welfare. The vegan Christmas market will make its debut on the last weekend of Advent, from Friday, December 18, through Sunday, December 20. The exact times the market will be open will be announced later. Take advantage of this unique opportunity and explore this new spot on Prater Island, which will be open just one weekend in December this year.
