We’ve already put that sad chapter behind us; the final events have taken place. At the end of September, the last tenants moved out of the old Gasteig on Rosenheimer Straße. The building is in urgent need of renovation, which is why—following the Gasteig’s move to Sendling—the Fat Cat’s temporary use of the space also had to come to an end. But it’s not quite over yet, because there are still some treasures in the building that shouldn’t end up in the landfill. If you’re looking for furniture or electronics—or want to snag a memento—then you should snap something up at the Gasteig auction.
Online auction for individuals and businesses

The Gasteig auction is currently underway online at restlos.com, where you can bid on the cultural center’s inventory. Items up for auction include chairs, tables, shelves, lockers, whiteboards, technical equipment, lighting, mixing consoles, and much more. The auction is aimed at both private individuals and professionals and offers a correspondingly diverse mix of items. While you probably won’t have much use for a facade access system or a ticket booth at home, these items are certainly of interest to businesses or event organizers.
You’ll be able to decorate your walls with S-Bahn or underground parking signs and keep the Gasteig in your memory forever. Or imagine the iconic red shoe-shaped armchair in your living room, right next to your new Yamaha piano. If you want to bid at the auction, you have until Tuesday, November 3. The first items will go under the hammer starting at 7:00 a.m. Bids start at €1, and the item will be awarded to the highest bidder at the end of the auction.
Gasteig Auction: Second Live Auction Planned
The online auction currently underway is just the first step in selling off the cultural center’s inventory. A second Gasteig auction is planned for mid-November and will be held in person. Then, additional items will go under the hammer right on site at Rosenheimer Straße.
So if you want to see the inside of the old Gasteig one last time, now’s your chance. And you can pick up a souvenir to take home with you. An exact date for the live auction hasn’t been set yet, but Gasteig director Stephanie Jenke is certainly hoping that as many items as possible will find new homes.
📅 Dates: Online auction through Tuesday, November 3; live auction in mid-November
