Following the thrilling marathon—including the Runners Festival—just a few days ago, Munich’s jam-packed sports calendar is kicking things into high gear again. With the Loop One Festival, the city is once more transforming into a spectacular backdrop for top athletes. Following last year’s successful premiere, the next edition of the Loop One Biathlon Opening Festival is now taking place in Munich’s Olympic Park. The upgrade for 2026: The competition program has been expanded to two full days. Around 60 of the world’s best biathletes will compete for victory in a fast-paced super sprint on roller skis. The course runs right through the Olympic Park, while the shooting range is set up on the Olympic Lake. Access to the grounds and along the course is completely free. Only those who want to sit in the main grandstand directly at the shooting range need a ticket.
Thrilling race days and top international stars
The athletic program offers action all weekend long. On Saturday (October 17), the qualifying rounds begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the Para-Biathlon (1:35 p.m.) and the finals starting at 3:40 p.m. On Sunday (October 18), the qualifying rounds will begin at 10:15 a.m., followed by the finals starting at 3:45 p.m. In addition to last year’s winners, Lisa Vittozzi and Eric Perrot, the German team will also be competing with eight athletes.
A Colorful Supporting Program at the Loop One Festival
A colorful supporting program awaits you around Hans-Jochen-Vogel-Platz. At “Biathlon4All,” you can try your hand at the sport. In the Kids Area, young guests can enjoy bounce houses, face painting, and a mini-disco, making the event perfect for a family outing. You’ll also have the chance to see the athletes in person. On Saturday, a Community Run with Denise Herrmann-Wick kicks off at 10:00 a.m., while other biathlon stars will be on site for meet-and-greets. Saturday evening wraps up with a laid-back sundowner DJ set starting at 5:30 p.m., and Sunday evening concludes the festival with the award ceremonies.
