Buying furniture is always quite a process. Just deciding what to buy takes time, and getting the pieces home and putting them together is an odyssey in itself. Very few furniture stores are located in the city, so you have to travel long distances. Alternatively, you can have the items delivered to your home and somehow clear your schedule on delivery day so you can be there. Neither option is ideal, which is why IKEA has now teamed up with Aldi Süd to make your life easier. Starting now, there are pickup stations for IKEA furniture at Aldi locations in Munich and the surrounding area.
How the service works

To have the furniture delivered to a pickup station, simply order it via Click & Collect on the IKEA website. In the past, you would have had to pick it up at the stores in Brunnthal or Eching, which would have required a special trip out of Munich. Now, with just a click of the mouse, it’s delivered to one of the pickup stations at Aldi.
These are located in the parking lots of the respective stores, where you can then pick up your items. When placing your order, you select the Aldi where you want to pick up the furniture, as well as a pickup time slot. If you show up at the discount store during that time slot, your items will be handed over to you there.
Here are the pickup stations for IKEA furniture

There are a total of 16 Aldi stores in Munich and the surrounding area that offer the pickup service. Two of them are located right in Munich: one at Dachauer Straße 507 and one at Frankfurter Ring 19. Additional pickup stations for IKEA furniture are located in Ingolstadt, Altötting, Weßling, Pfaffenhoffen an der Ilm, Baierbrunn, Bernau am Chiemsee, Ebersberg, and Dorfen, among other places. Thanks to this new service , buying furniture will be even more flexible, and you won’t have to worry about missed deliveries. Instead, you can simply have your furniture delivered right to your doorstep without having to leave the city.
