Who says the pre-Christmas season is all about mulled wine and gingerbread? From November 24 to December 23, 2026, the Tollwood Winter Festival will transform Munich’s Theresienwiese into a colorful world of experiences filled with art, culture, and extraordinary entertainment. Amid glowing tents, international street food, and creative arts and crafts, a diverse program awaits you, with over 90 percent of the events free of charge.
By the way, Jack Johnson will perform at Tollwood in Munich on June 23, 2027—advance ticket sales for Germany begin on October 23 at 9 a.m. At the Winter Festival on the Theresienwiese, admission to the grounds and the “Market of Ideas” with street food is free; tickets are required for select shows.

When art and acrobatics meet Christmas magic
Under the motto “Made to Move You,” Tollwood will transport you to fascinating theatrical worlds this winter. In the Grand Chapiteau, three international productions promise special moments: While “Ten Thousand Hours” pushes the boundaries of human acrobatics, “Triptych” combines contemporary dance with impressive visual effects. “Mad in Finland” offers a mix of circus arts, humor, and Nordic fantasy.
And for those who can’t get enough of the sparkle, dancing, and fairy-tale atmosphere, there’s another dazzling highlight away from the festival: At the Ballet of Lights in Munich’s Freiheitshalle, the fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty comes to life in a very special way through classical dance and costumes that glow in the dark.

Tickets are required for certain highlights
In the Grand Chapiteau, you can look forward to the circus and dance productions “Ten Thousand Hours” (November 25–29), “Triptych” (December 2–9), and “MAD IN FINLAND” (December 12–20). The discussion and lecture evenings featuring Luisa Neubauer (November 30), Uli Kunz (December 7), Sven Plöger and Uta Eser (December 14), and Robert Habeck (December 21) also require a ticket; the event with Habeck is already sold out. You’ll also need tickets for the Tollwood New Year’s Eve party on December 31. If you’d like to try curling, you can reserve a lane in advance. Although the performances “Boîte crânienne” and “Ballroom” are free, reservations are required due to limited seating.
A winter festival that offers more than just entertainment
In addition to fire shows, live music at the Hexenkessel, and the popular “Market of Ideas,” Tollwood is also putting climate protection front and center this year. Under the motto “All in for the Climate—The Game of Your Life,” Luisa Neubauer, Sven Plöger, Robert Habeck, and others invite you to join discussions about the future of our planet.
Whether you’re looking for an extraordinary cultural evening or simply want to enjoy the festive atmosphere, Tollwood shows just how versatile a Munich winter can be.
