Getting on horseback
Lisa and Thomas met as teenagers. He was already playing for FC Bayern Munich, then still in the A-youth team. They have been a couple since 2007, got engaged two years later and tied the knot in the same year. Lisa got her first horse when she was 14 and is a professional dressage rider.
So horses have played a role throughout their relationship. Finally, Lisa persuaded Thomas to get on horseback himself and go for a ride. He almost fell off the horse, but that didn’t stop him from trying. The footballer also grew up in a very rural area and came into contact with livestock farms through his family as a child. So he is not afraid of large animals.
Horse breeding on the Wettlkam estate

In 2012, Lisa and Thomas Müller moved together with their horses to Gut Wettlkam, about three quarters of an hour south-east of Munich near Holzkirchen. The riding facility has been in existence since 2000, but was initially a boarding facility. The stud brought unexpected joy and now the couple breed their own animals here and train them to become show horses.
An ordinary show horse costs €10,000, an Olympic horse even up to €10 million. In fact, Thomas Müller is co-owner of the horse Checker 47, which won gold in show jumping at the Summer Olympics in Paris with rider Christian Kukuk.
As a breeder, Thomas Müller is actually still very young. Real breeders are at least 75, more likely even over 80, says the professional footballer. You have to gain a lot of experience.
